Spectral functions of the spinless Holstein model
نویسنده
چکیده
An analytical approach to the one-dimensional spinless Holstein model is proposed, which is valid at finite charge-carrier concentrations. Spectral functions of charge carriers are computed on the basis of self-energy calculations. A generalization of the Lang-Firsov canonical transformation method is shown to provide an interpolation scheme between the extreme weak– and strong-coupling cases. The transformation depends on a variationally determined parameter that characterizes the charge distribution across the polaron volume. The relation between the polaron– and electron spectral functions, the latter corresponding to the photoemission spectrum, is derived. Particular attention is paid to the distinction between the coherent and incoherent parts of the spectra, and their evolution as a function of band filling and model parameters. Results are discussed and compared with recent numerical calculations for the many-polaron problem. PACS numbers: 71.27.+a, 63.20.Kr, 71.10.Fd, 71.38.-k, 71.10.-w

Disorder in the 1d Spinless Holstein Model
Disorder in the 1D spinless Holstein model. Abstract: We investigate a spinless fermion system on a one dimensional lattice interacting locally with the optical modes of a quantized phonon field: the Holstein model. The system is shown to have a disordered ground state, for small enough coupling, at any density. This is in contrast to the non quantized phonon case, the static Holstein model, wh...
متن کاملPhase diagram and optical conductivity of the one-dimensional spinless Holstein model
The effects of quantum lattice fluctuations on the Peierls transition and the optical conductivity in the one-dimensional Holstein model of spinless fermions have been studied by developing an analytical approach, based on the unitary transformation method. We show that when the electron-phonon coupling constant decreases to a finite critical value the Peierls dimerization is destroyed by the q...

The optical conductivity of charge carriers coupled to quantum phonons is studied in the framework of the one-dimensional spinless Holstein model. For one electron, variational diagonalisation yields exact results in the thermodynamic limit, whereas at finite carrier density analytical approximations based on previous work on single-particle spectral functions are obtained. Particular emphasis ...

متن کاملLuttinger parameters and momentum distribution function for the half-filled spinless fermion Holstein model: A DMRG approach
We reexamine the nature of the metallic phase of the one-dimensional half-filled Holstein model of spinless fermions. To this end we determine the Tomonaga-Luttinger-liquid correlation parameter Kρ by large-scale density-matrix renormalisation-group (DMRG) calculations, exploiting (i) the leading-order scaling relations between the ground-state energy and the single-particle excitation gap and ...
